I absolutely love this flat iron! It was recommended by a friend who's beautician uses it on her hair at the salon and fail in love with it. I can now aeve the same look for less! That's always a plus. The price was right. It left my hair silky, smooth, and lightweight. I have used several different irons but this one has by far surpassed my expectations! I would recommend this product to all my girlfriends. It's easy to use and gets the job done in one stroke with long lasting affects. Thanks Folica for sending my Titanium plates in a timely manor! I'm In Love!!

As someone who has used both the Titanium and Silicone 450 flat irons from Salon Tech, I will contribute the following observation and warning to people considering these irons. In general I would say that these products have some great potential and for some they may work very well. However, they also have an extreme failure rate when used in a professional setting at the highest temperature (possibly in other settings as well). In fact the failure rate is virtually 100% within 6 months of operation with some failing in as little as 2 months. These irons have been used in a salon setting, operated at 450 degrees and used for straighteners which they are advertised as being very good for. If you are using the iron for personal use and/or operating it at lower temperatures then your mileage may vary but it's very questionable whether these irons are truly suitable for professional use. <br> <br>I have given the product 2 stars because these irons are not complete junk (as so many others are) and are in fact very well made. But the failure rate is simply unacceptable to someone who needs to rely on an iron and it makes me very leery about ever purchasing or recommending another one until I see some strong indication from Salon Tech that they have addressed this problem. The warranty on these irons is 1 year and in the past I have simply written them off and not bothered (in part because the replacement iron carries the same warranty except that it begins at the original purchase date so when it fails it'll pretty much be guaranteed to be out of warranty). Also, a warranty return should be an exceptional event and not a regular occurrence. At the moment I have decided to try the warranty return on a Silicone 450 that failed within 2 months so I'll probably update this review with my warranty experience. <br> <br>In conclusion, if you are a person who needs a reliable iron then you should be cautious about putting too much faith in this product until the failure rate issue is addressed. If you are planning to use this iron occasionally in a personal setting then it's possible that it will suit your needs but my experiences are related to professional use so I can't truly address that.

My hair is difficult to straighten on a good day but this iron made it so much easier. It now only takes me half the time to do my hair in the morning. I definitely recommend it.

How to Protect Hair & Flat Irons

Flat irons can make curly hair straight.
Using a flat iron to style your hair is fairly common, but so is flat iron damage. As with any heated hair appliance, protecting your hair from flat iron damage is important. Furthermore, you should protect your flat iron from becoming damaged, as if your flat iron malfunctions it can be problematic for your hair. Fortunately, it is not difficult to protect both your hair and flat iron from damage.

1. Wash your hair with a hydrating shampoo. Lather well and get down to the scalp to ensure you remove all product build-up and residue. Dirty hair can become more easily damaged during flat iron styling because it is more likely to stick to the appliance and suffer heat damage.

2. Condition your hair with a hydrating conditioner after shampooing. This prepares and protects your hair for styling with a flat iron.

3. Apply a heat treatment, or mist your hair with a thermal protection spray and dry your hair before you iron it. You can do this with a blow dryer, or by allowing your hair to air dry. Heat treatment protects your hair during styling and helps your style last longer.

4. Comb your hair and make sure to remove all tangles. Separate hair into small sections and use hair clips to keep them separated. Straightening in smaller sections protects your hair because you do not have to keep the flat iron on the hair for long to straighten each section.

5. Start off on a lower temperature setting and work your way up to a higher setting as you determine your hair's tolerance for heat. You can usually straighten thinner, less-curly hair with lower heat. Thicker, curlier hair may require a higher heat setting.

6. Grab hair between the plates near the top of the scalp and move quickly from root to tip. Never allow your flat iron to pause on a section of hair. You should flat iron your hair in a fluid, steady motion, applying only gentle pressure to the hair that is clipped between the heated plates.

7. Wipe your flat iron with a soft cloth after using it if you use styling products. If you do not use styling products when straightening your hair, wipe your flat iron once weekly with a soft cloth. You should do this while your flat iron is warm because the residue from the products will come free more easily. Use caution not to burn yourself.

8. Clean your flat iron about once a month with a flat iron cleaner. This will help keep the plates free of build-up and extend the life of your flat iron.

Q: What are differences between human hair & synthetic hair?

A: Human Hair offers the most natural look and feel. It is remarkably soft with a shine and movement that is not easily duplicated in synthetic hair. It is also extremely versatile. Human Hair can be cut and styled to suit your personal tastes. And while it can be a more expensive pick, with the proper care, it is also more durable and can last over a year.

With technological advances, synthetic hair has come a long way in recent years. In some cases it is difficult to tell the difference -- the denier and texture are such that they feel almost like human hair. As a matter of fact, with some of the higher quality synthetic pieces, you would never know they were not natural human hair if you didn’t have the human hair right next to it to compare!

Human Hair
● Ooffers the most natural look & feel
● Presents the most styling versatility
● Requires more styling - especially after washing
● Typically more expensive than synthetic hair
● Less durable than human hair — 4-6 months with proper care.(It is important to follow our care recommendations in order to get the optimal life span from your hair!)
● Premium & Remy Human Hair are the highest quality human hair available
● Hair cuticles kept running in uniform direction resulting in less tangling
● More careful collecting and processing techniques result in higher quality product and contribute to higher price
●The most durable hair type
Synthetic Hair
● higher quality synthetic hair offer a look and feel quite similar to human hair
● offers limited styling versatility (hot tools cannot be used)
● requires little maintenance & can usually be worn right out of the box
● typically more affordable than human hair
● very durable - can last over a year with proper care.(It is important to follow our care recommendations in order to get the optimal life span from your hair!)
● Heat-Friendly Synthetic Hair offers more styling versatility (hot tools may be used - max 350°)
● Can be more challenging to style than human hair
● Care must be taken to avoid tangling
● Colors may vary from non-heat-friendly synthetic hair
● Less durable than regular synthetic hair — 2-3 months with proper care(It is important to follow our care recommendations in order to get the optimal life span from your hair!)

Q:What are differences between human hair & synthetic hair?
A: Unfortunately, any heat styling runs the risk of damaging synthetic wigs. Wigs with synthetic hair can be purchased pre-curled or in any style you desire. Alternatively, you could curl the wig with a styling method that does not involve heat. Wigs with human hair will not be damaged by heat styling.

Q: What type of fiber is used for your synthetic wigs/hairpieces?
A:The fiber is made from the raw material Kanekalon, which is imported from Japan. It's commonly used for hair extensions, weaves, wigs and doll hair. Kanekalon is flame-retardant and comes in a variety of styles and textures, plus more than 120 colors.

Q: Can I color or straighten the hair in this wig?
A: Wigs made with human hair can be colored or styled as you would your own hair. Synthetic wigs can be colored, but heat styling of any kind could be damaging to the fibers.
